SGNZ is administered by an Executive Manager and an elected Executive based on a ward system.
This consists of three grower representatives from Auckland, one from Waikato/Bay of Plenty, one from Central (the rest of the lower North Island) and one representative from the South Island. There is also an observer representative from the strawberry runner growing industry and a contracted research provider.
The major role of SGNZ is to encourage and promote the interests of strawberry growers and provide representation on strawberry issues to Horticulture NZ and Government regarding any issues of importance to its members
